What Is Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery?
Oculoplastic surgery refers to a specialised branch of ophthalmology focused on the eyelids, orbit (eye socket), tear duct system and surrounding facial structures. These procedures can be both functional and cosmetic and are performed by ophthalmologists with training in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
At Newcastle Eye Centre, both Dr Eugene Hollenbach and Dr Gittos are leaders in this field, having had extensive oculoplastic training both locally and in the UK. Dr Eugene Hollenbach leads our oculoplastics offering, providing comprehensive surgical care for both adults and children. His expertise spans delicate reconstructive work through to orbital and cosmetic procedures.
